This Week in Yap Archives

A Photo Summary of our dives on a weekly basis

This is our way of showing our prospective clients and friends just what the diving is like in Yap, on a weekly basis. We'll try and keep this updated each week as a photo dive log from our daily dive trips  with photos featuring highlights from our adventures beneath the waves.

Please note that this is what the diving is really like. No paid advertising and no fancy magazine photo spreads. Only real photos from our dives featuring the highlights from that week. If the weather was bad or the visibility was poor, we'll show that too because even in paradise, the conditions aren't always perfect.

January 28 - February 3, 2008

A juvenile grouper extends his fins as if to wave to us as we swim past during a dusk dive.

Tori, a Peace Corps volunteer here in Yap, practices near-perfect buoyancy on her final dive for certification. Congratulations, Tori!

A rather large pufferfish was resting peacefully on the bottom until we circled it for a better look and she swam away....slowly.

John Paul follows Morgan on the reef.

Here's Lacey checking out the corals. Lacey is visiting us from Kentucky in the U.S.A. and teaching a class at our local college for a few weeks, but still finds time to dive between classes!

John Paul, one of our boat operators and dive guides, sports yellow fins. Arild, if you're reading this back in Norway, these fins aren't nearly as stylish as the ones you wore a few weeks ago, but then again, you've "set the bar pretty high".

Lacey and Morgan enjoy the warm, clear waters of Yap's reefs.

I could swear that clam is grinning at me! (Probably mocking me is more closer to the truth!)

Now here's an interesting photo. Notice the colorful nudibranch crawling over the sea cucumber trying to get to the rock. That's one heck of a tough journey. I've heard of piggy backing, but this is something else!

Morgan takes off his tank. I'm not quite sure why, but that's Morgan for ya.

Oh, now I know what he's doing. He's posing.....for This Week in Yap! Everyone's got to have a little fun now and then.

Lizzie descends into the depths at 1:2.

Matt and Seema explore the shallow reefs of the inner lagoon. They both live in Yap year round and, like most other residents, dive as much as they can.

Matt and Seema on their safety stop under the boat.

Matt strikes a rather odd pose. But he makes a fine diver, so he can get away with it :o) That's Seema in the background. She makes a fine diver too!

Matt and Seema could make a holiday greeting card out of this photo.
