Beyond The Reef's Tours & Services

Welcome to Yap and Beyond The Reef. We hope you'll enjoy our site, and find it useful in perhaps planning a future trip to our tiny island. The Yapese culture is still intact and practiced every day, and visitors can still see this Pacific way of life today.

Yap is a magical place filled with friendly, smiling faces, great tropical weather year round, an invitingly warm ocean, some of the world's best diving, squadrons of manta rays, numerous hotels each with their own unique features, a few good restaurants and relatively easy access via Continental Airlines.

On the menu to the left are all of our tours and services, including some hotel / dive packages, scuba class information, daily rates and our "Gear Bag", which has some free backgrounds for your computer.

We learned early on that we prefer the smaller group sizes. With less divers in the water at one time, the safety factor is increased, and everyone is at the front of the group on the dive, becoming a part of the action and not missing all the spectacular scenery. Photographers can swim at a more leisurely pace, taking time to get that award winning photo. And varied experience levels are not as much of an issue with a smaller group.

Our main focus of course is diving, but we also take snorkelers to see the mantas as well, teach a multitude of PADI dive classes, conduct island tours and offer sport fishing charters for those guests not diving on their last day. The local restaurants will happily prepare your fresh catch just the way you like it. A fun option for those that like to fish.

We prefer word-of-mouth advertising, and having our previous guests promoting us has proved highly beneficial. We are a small, informal and relaxed dive shop catering to individuals, couples, families and small groups that want the personal attention a small business like ours can deliver. Every guest that walks in our door is treated with open arms and a big smile. I honestly think our staff is a fun bunch of people to dive and snorkel with, and we'll try hard to make your trip to Yap as memorable and care-free as we possibly can. All of our employees are hard working men and women that truly enjoy what they do and want our guests to have a great time. They are the backbone of Beyond The Reef and without their knowledge, caring and sense of humor we wouldn't have lasted all these years. We still have fun on every dive, and we'll do our best for you, too.

In closing, we cater to a niche clientele. For divers that want the friendly, casual and fun overall Yap experience, like getting to know the local people that have worked for us year after year and the personal attention that comes with having only four divers per boat, we hope you'll consider diving with us. We do things differently at Beyond The Reef, as you can see by reading our customers' comments on this site. And if I can help with any information to better plan your trip to Yap, please don't hesitate to ask.
