Daily Dive Trips
Our
daily dive trips visit all of Yap's best sites, including
the famous manta rays. Our departure times vary each day,
depending on the destination. When diving with the mantas,
we need to run our boats in accordance with the local tides.
Our manta dives can depart as early as 6:30 am, up until
about 12 noon. For the reefs and walls, we usually have
a departure time of 8:30 am, but we are flexible with our
schedules to better suit the needs of our guests.
Although many guests
prefer a single two-tank dive trip, we offer additional
dives throughout each day. Third tanks, fourth tanks, sunset
mandarinfish dives and night dives are offered daily. We
have some critter-intense sites just minutes from our dock,
making for perfect afternoon dives.
Beyond The Reef started
operations in January 1993 under the direction of Jesse
Faimaw, the island's very first dive guide, and Dave Vecella.
Their dive vacation philosophy is simple:
-
Small guided
groups are fun and relaxed
-
Personal
attention to all of our guests
-
Knowledgeable
local guides for experience
-
Come as
a customer ~ Leave as a friend.
With smaller group
sizes you won't be diving in a crowd, so the mantas, sharks,
eagle rays, and schools of pelagics come closer and stay.
Underwater photography is a dream come true when your subjects
swim towards your lens, not fleeing from too many divers.

Beyond The Reef's
professional staff will guide you to the best diving Yap
has to offer, from the gentle mantas of Miil Channel and
Valley of the Rays, to the spectacular walls, reefs and
sheer drop-offs at the southern end of the island. Sites
with names like Yap Caverns, Lionfish Wall, and Magic Kingdom.
And snorkelers can see the mantas too, so why not bring
the whole family?
As a member of the
PADI Resort Association, we've exceeded high standards for
safety and quality in the services we provide our guests.
Beyond The Reef has a full line of rental equipment for
those traveling light, and we provide free transportation
between all hotels in the town of Colonia.
Our waterfront facility
is located at the Marina Center, right in the heart of town.
We have secure overnight equipment storage with sturdy hangers,
freshwater showers, equipment rinse tanks, designated camera
rinse basins, a camera work table, battery charge station,
classroom and gift shop, all at the water's edge. All of
our tanks are standard aluminum 80 cu. ft. fitted with both
standard and DIN valves, so there's no need for our friends
from Europe to bring DIN adapters.
Most guests prefer
good 'ole air in their tanks, which is fine for all of Yap's
diving since the sites are shallow, but we do offer a 32%
Nitrox mix for those interested in either extending their
bottom times or adding that extra margin of safety. Our
guides are trained in Nitrox as well, so the guests using
enriched air won't be limited to air divers in the small
group.
We structure our dive
profiles to fit your needs. We let you dive your own profile
and we won't be telling you that "the bottom time is
up". Many of our guests have dives longer than 90 minutes,
and that's fine with us.
Have a special request
or need? Let us know if we can help. We also have a variety
of hotel / resort / dive packages for every budget. We have
a full time dive instructor on staff in addition to several
dive guides to make the most of your dive experience in
Yap. Our guides have all been diving in Yap day after day,
and year after year, and are some of the most knowledgeable
on the island.
Get the most out of
your dive vacation with Beyond The Reef. From manta rays
and sharks, to night dives and mandarinfish. Dive Yap the
way it was meant to be.
