Yap's Recompression Chamber

It's encouraging to know for divers travelling around the world to a farawy place like Yap that we do have a fully functional, multiplace recompression chamber conveniently located at the Yap State Memorial Hospital in the town of Colonia. Although most divers stay well within the no-decompression limits, rare cases can arise whereby a diver might need recompression treatment.

The chamber is staffed by volunteers from the dive shops and hospital nurses. The chamber is available 24 hours a day by contacting the Yap State hospital. Due to the high cost of chamber treatments, we strongly encourage all divers coming to Micronesia to have proper dive accident insurance through DAN, the Divers Alert Network.
